"Kenya is not a destination — it is a feeling you carry forever."

— James Kimani, Head Guide
🇰🇪  Kenya · East Africa

Safari at its most elemental

Kenya is the safari that defined all safaris. Its landscapes shift from the open wheat-gold plains of the Masai Mara — home to the Great Migration — to the snow-capped summit of Kilimanjaro glimpsed across Amboseli, and north to the arid beauty of Samburu's red earth.

With sixteen years of operating across every corner of Kenya, our guides know the secret waterholes, the hidden game paths, and the private conservancies that no mass-market operator can access. We design itineraries that fit your rhythm — whether that means a six-night first-time classic or a bespoke twenty-day circuit through every ecosystem.

Common Questions

Kenya Safari FAQ

Answers to the questions our guests ask most before their first Kenya adventure.

When is the best time to see the Great Migration in Kenya? +
The Mara River crossings — the most dramatic part of the migration — typically occur between late July and early October, though exact timing varies year to year depending on rainfall patterns in Tanzania's Serengeti. July–August tends to see the highest crossing activity. We monitor the movement in real-time and update itineraries accordingly.
Do I need a visa to enter Kenya? +
Kenya introduced the Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) in January 2024, replacing the old visa system. Most nationalities — including all EU and US citizens — apply online at etakenya.go.ke before travel. The eTA currently costs $30 USD and is typically approved within 72 hours. Our team provides full pre-departure documentation support.
Are yellow fever vaccinations required for Kenya? +
Kenya does not require yellow fever vaccination for entry unless you are arriving from a yellow fever endemic country. However, we strongly recommend consulting a travel health clinic 6–8 weeks before departure. Recommended vaccinations typically include Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and up-to-date Tetanus. Malaria prophylaxis is advised for all wildlife areas.
What is the typical accommodation on a Kenya safari? +
Most of our Kenya packages use luxury tented camps — permanent structures with en-suite bathrooms, king beds, and all modern amenities, but with canvas walls that bring you close to nature. Standards range from premier (from $350/pp/night all-inclusive) to ultra-luxury (from $1,200/pp/night). We also use lodges and private villa options. All properties are personally vetted.
How do I get between parks in Kenya? +
Inter-park transfers in Kenya are typically by scheduled or charter light aircraft — bush flights on Cessna Caravans from airstrips within the parks. Flying reduces long road transfers and maximises your time on game drives. For shorter distances (e.g., Nairobi to Amboseli), road transfers in private 4×4 vehicles are used. All logistics are pre-arranged by our operations team.
Is Kenya safe for tourists? +
Kenya's wildlife areas and national parks are extremely safe. Our guides are licensed by the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA) and operate to strict safety protocols. Nairobi has areas that require the same common-sense precautions as any major city, and our team provides thorough pre-departure safety briefings. We maintain 24/7 on-ground support throughout your journey.
What currency is used in Kenya? +
Kenya's currency is the Kenyan Shilling (KES). However, USD is widely accepted in safari lodges, camps, and tourist areas. We recommend carrying USD for tips, curio purchases, and small expenses. Most lodge extras and park fees can also be settled by card. Our pre-departure pack includes a comprehensive money and tipping guide.
Can you build a bespoke Kenya itinerary for us? +
Absolutely — bespoke design is our core service. Whether you want a family itinerary with young children, a honeymoon with ultra-romantic camps, a photography safari with specialist equipment, or a multi-country circuit, we design every detail around you. Use the contact form to share your vision and we'll respond within 24 hours with a tailored proposal.
